Craig Woehrle received his Master of Architecture (MArch) from the Yale School of Architecture. He further specialized in parametric systems and digital fabrication at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he earned his Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) as a Dean's Merit Scholar. Before founding Patternine, he served as the lead designer at surfaceLAB for several years.

At Patternine, Craig begins by sketching a digital outline to visualize how the parameters will interact and to predict the resulting output. This process blends mathematics with design, where any adjustment in design or curve parameters introduces aesthetic variations. By tweaking these parameters, different and sometimes unexpected results are often achieved.

To begin producing his work, Craig acquired a shop and a CNC machine, where he began carving his meticulously calculated patterns into solid surface—a manufactured resin material ideal for flat surfaces like countertops or cabinet fronts. This material is also perfect for Craig’s designs, as it is easily carved with standard machinery and installed without visible seams.
